The gambling world turns to the stars. Well we are not talking about astrology but celebrities.
Appearing in a recorded video message, Stallone, famous for his movie role as hard-luck boxer Rocky Balboa, was part of a parade of celebrities and gambling executives who asked Pennsylvania state regulators last week for a casino license in Rocky’s hometown, Philadelphia.
One of Stallone’s partners in Planet Hollywood International Inc., actor Bruce Willis, also recorded a video message to board members, promising that “you can expect to see me at the casino plenty.”
Five professional casino operators - politically connected or with celebrity investment partners — are in competition for two slot-machine gambling licenses in Philadelphia, which could become the United States’ biggest city with a casino. Let’s get this straight, on one hand “they” are telling us that online poker is bad for us on the other is fine using celebrities to advertise the opening of new casinos in US.
