Internet monitoring company Cambridge-based Envisional said that two pirated versions of the blockbuster were available on well-known public bittorrent websites such as Mininova and TorrentSpy and across a wide range of peer to peer networks.
A copy of the film, apparently from Russia and shot over the heads of a cinema audience, was on the web last Friday; a higher quality, possibly from Italy, was available online on Saturday.
“There are now several million active digital pirates. Many of them are ordinary families that have got into the habit of downloading the latest episodes of American TV hits.” said Dr David Price head of piracy intelligence at Envisional.
Envisional creates new-generation Advanced Automated Artificial Intelligence (A3I) search technologies that allow businesses to discover items and information online that even unlimited human resources could never expose. This information is then analysed by a dedicated team of piracy and fraud specialists. The company has used its patented technology to develop Internet intelligence systems that detect digital piracy, phishing and fraud, counterfeiting, and trademark and intellectual property abuse for a clientlist studded with global market leaders.
